Now that the end of 2024 is nearly in sight, I am beginning to take a moment to reflect on the year that has been. There are lots of things, good and bad, that I have mused over (many of which I have shared in my newsletter intros over the past months!), but what keeps coming up is a feeling of gratitude.


So, this intro is going to be a bit of an appreciation post…


As many of you know, last year Franklin Women received 2 years of seed funding from NSW Health to set us up for ongoing success. A big part of that funding was to build our ‘A-team’, which has meant we have grown very quickly from myself as a volunteer and two casual team members, to a team of 6 casual and part-time employees.


This appreciation post is dedicated to the amazing women who make up the FW team.

In the last 12 months, we have worked together to define our individual roles, understood how our unique skills complement each other, and built efficient workflows to help us deliver maximum impact with the few hands we have. I have had to learn how to be a ‘manager’ as well as a social enterprise ‘director’, and the team, despite embarking on their own growth journeys, have given me so much support and patience while I navigated my own.


I am so proud of what we have achieved together this year and feel grateful to go on this crazy adventure with these brilliant minds who are as passionate about the FW mission as I am.


I couldn’t end the year without also sending our gratitude and appreciation to each of you who have been part of the FW community over the last 12 months – whether a member, newsletter reader, social media follower or fan from afar – we wouldn’t be where we are without you.

Meet Charlie Morscheck

We recently hosted our 2024 Leaders Brunch. These events bring together leaders from our Partner Organisations to learn and collaborate on emerging priorities relating to diversity and inclusion in our sector. This year we focused on the critical yet challenging topic of sexual and gendered harassment in the workplace. Here, Annie Fenwicke, of EDI at Work Consulting, shares her key take-homes
